| Base | Granite, Granolite, Marble or concrete mount that the headstone rests on. Vases can be mounted on the base. The grave number and name of the mason who constructed the monument is engraved on the base. |

| Chips | Smashed marble that is placed on top of the concrete in-fill. |
| Concrete or Concrete In-fill | A thin layer of concrete usually supported by kerbing that covers the grave. Sometimes chips or tiles rest on top of the concrete. The concrete is cracked and folded into the grave when the grave is opened for a service. (As of 1/10/2002, all new concrete slabs are removable). |
| Double Enclosure | Monument is two graves wide and may include kerbing, concrete, chips, tiles or slab. Sometimes a double enclosed grave has a centre kerbing. |
| Emblems | Service emblems (RAAF, Rising Sun etc) that are permitted on the headstone once the correct service papers have been received by the office and/or mason. |
| Headstone | Granite, Granolite or Marble stone that sits on top of the base at right angles to the ground. The inscription is engraved on the headstone. |
| Inscription | Lettering on the headstone or plaque that includes the deceased’s name, date of death, age and epitaph. |
| Kerbing | The concrete, marble or granite surround that forms the perimeter of the grave. The slab, tiles or concrete and chips rests on top of the kerbing. |
| Panel | The marble, granite or granolite front of a crypt or vault. |
| Single | Monument is only one grave wide and may include kerbing, concrete, chips, tiles or slab. |
| Slab | Granite, Granolite or Marble cover over a grave. (As of 1/10/2002, all new concrete slabs (also known as Concrete In-Fills) are removable. |
| Sloper | Granite, Granolite, Marble or Concrete block that a plaque sits on. |
| Tiles | Ceramic tiles that are placed on top of the concrete in-fill. |
